The New York State Department of Corrections (DOCCS) engaged Murray Engineering through our on-call contract with the New York State Office of General Services (OGS) to serve as the prime consultant addressing water infiltration and façade maintenance problems at the Wallkill Correctional Facility
Structure consists of a series of interconnected buildings erected in 1932 with cast stone masonry facades. We worked with a number of cast stone manufacturers to specify a product that matched the dimensions and appearance of the existing masonry units. The resulting design satisfies the requirements of the State Historic Preservation Office within the estimated budgetary constraints of the client agency (DOCCS). We solved the challenges of an occupied secure facility and hazardous materials abatement by working closely with DOCCS and our counterparts at OGS to carefully phase the proposed work.
