Staatsburg Bridge

The reconstruction of this multi-span bridge on a private farm in the upper Hudson Valley included repurposing many heavy wood timber beams from an indoor swimming pool. Simple and cost-effective design and detailing resulted in a cost-effective bridge construction that is AASHTO-rated to sustain all possible truck and farm loading.

Murray Engineering researched and developed a custom treatment method for the reclaimed glulam beams to be reused as the main girders spanning across the repaired existing concrete piers originally cast in 1930. The bridge spans a total of 120 feet across a revitalized pond created by re-grading the site.
