Rhinebeck house

Murray Engineering took the lead role in structural, envelope and assembly design and detailing for this very special modern home located on a bluff above the Hudson River in Rhinebeck, NY.

The house consists of two main wings connected with a terrace, pool and subterranean galley.   The large braced frames provide direct support of a large photovoltaic system while also suspending the flat roof to allow a column-free living room space with a 47-foot retractable door system. The complexity of modern architecture, moveable glazing and open-space provided numerous design challenges.
