This townhouse is located on a quiet street ideally positioned in the Gramercy park area of New York City. The gut renovation of the building included the modification of the rear wall where Murray Engineering implemented a new steel moment frame to allow for a new large glass door at the garden level.
This new opening allows the kitchen to flow through to the garden and provides more natural light to the space. A shoring scheme was developed to temporarily shore the existing rear wall while the frame was being installed.
During the course of construction at other areas of the building, Murray Engineering was also called upon to evaluate existing framing and design reinforcements for the floor framing as necessary.
