Murray Engineering, P.C. was consulted as experts for the historic restoration and building envelope design of an observatory built in 1845. We evaluated and proposed a cost-effective remediation of the masonry exterior, as well as a substantial gut-rehabilitation before it could be used as classroom and administrative space.
Murray Engineering worked with the college’s engineering department, the local contractor, and building design team to minimize the impact to the exterior as we worked on the masonry restoration and envelope improvements. Our direct involvement saved the college over $600,000. The building is still in active use today and Vassar College was able to re-purpose the funds to other important programs.
