The concrete structure was an asymmetrical shape with parabolic curves. It was designed as a post tension reinforced concrete slab with a foundation system of pile caps and grade beams. Support columns are powdered coated steel round HSS shapes. The lateral system of the structure was provided by masonry shear walls which became a design element. The structure was designed with post tensioning steel for crack control of the concrete slab and stainless steel reinforcement was used to due to the proximity to the corrosive ocean elements.
Murray Engineering provided construction oversight and cross discipline coordination. The structure survived Hurricane Sandy without any structural damage.
