380 West Broadway is one of many beautiful buildings in New York City and historic cast-iron facades. A victim of ground-settlement, water infiltration and normal aging, the façade needed much care. Murray Engineering was initially contact to evaluate areas of the façade which were potentially dangerous and structurally unstable. Once the façade was secured and all loose materials were removed, Murray Engineering developed and implemented a repair program to patch, repair, and replace various façade elements. Per the Owner’s request, the color of the façade was changed from a two-tone grey color to a historic beige further restoring the historic presence of this building. It has been our mission on this project to work with the building owners and LPC to improve the building envelope, repair windows, protect historic fabric and minimize the use of non-historic materials as part of the repair work.
